Large Scale Power Factor Correction

Large scale power factor correction for large switching loads such as Arc Furnaces must be designed using Fourier Analysis tools, and tested on site to verify the operating constraints and effectiveness. Logitech Engineering, in partnership with Keech Furnace Technologies and EC&M, completed the installation of the Windimurra Vanadium Mine in WA which is the only DC Arc Furnace in the world operating from Gas Turbines not connected into the power grid.


Sizing of the 11kV power conditioning reactors and capacitor bank required specialized engineering tools and expertise including Fourier Analysis and MatLab.

Logitech Engineering use PowerCAD computer modelling software for all Low Voltage power systems. This program allows complex power systems to be modeled, including:
