High Voltage Design, Protection and Testing

Testing and protection of High Voltage switchgear and associated power distribution is critical to maintaining reliable and safe operating plants. Logitech Engineering HV experts conduct VLF, HiPot, Ductor and Primary Injection testing of all HV systems, and verify the designed protection setting against actual installed loads.

Logitech Engineering specialise in electrical systems up to 132kV, including overhead power lines, modelling, Earth grids, substations and transformers.

High Voltage Motor Soft Starting

High Voltage Motors for Heavy Machinery and Conveyor Systems are often paired with Liquid Resistance Starters (LRS) or Fluid Drive Clutches (FDC) to provide soft-starting.

Logitech Engineering have commissioned several LRS and FDC systems in the last 10 years. For example, in 2012, Logitech commissioned a large Ball Mill for a crushing circuit at Atlantic Minerals, which had a salt-water LRS at 11kV. In 2009, Logitech designed and commissioned five FDCs for the Gladstone Port Authority for starting Coal Conveyors.

Thermographic Testing

Thermographic Testing

Thermography is a non-destructive test method used to detect poor electrical connections, unbalanced loads, deteriorated insulation, and other potential problems in energised electrical and mechanical components.

Logitech Engineers use Thermography extensively during Commissioning and Fault Finding since it allows our Engineers to see beyond what is visible to the naked eye. Vibration, corrosion, contamination, fatigue, contraction and faulty assembly can all contribute to the early failure of components.
